In the late spring of 2019, Morrill Public Schools set a goal and wrote a strategy to pursue a classification of GREAT according to the Nebraska Department of Education's AQuESTT rating system. We began wearing t-shirts every Monday as visual reminders of the daily focus that is required to stay attentive to our strategies for improvement.
It was disappointing on many levels when the 4th quarter of the 2019-2020 school year was 'hijacked" by COVID-19, forcing all schools in Nebraska to operate remotely for the duration of the school year. The Nebraska Statewide Assessments to measure academic progress and proficiency were not administered to any students last year.
NDE communicated to us that even though assessments should be administered during the Spring of 2021, the results will not be used to change school's AQuESTT Classifications this year either.
So, while we hoped to change classifications after the Spring 2021 State Assessments, we will have to EXTEND that goal until classifications can be changed. The earliest possibility of change will be after the Spring 2022 State Assessments.
We have not relaxed however, we remain focused and will endeavor to attain GREAT school classification.
